KeyNote Speaker:
Greta Eskridge
Greta is a wife of 20 years and mother to 4. After being home schooled for most of her own education, Greta took her love for literature, writing, and people, and became a high school English teacher. Five years later, after the birth of her first child, Greta left her job as a public school teacher and begin staying home full time. Greta has been at home with her kids ever since.
Greta’s love for teaching made home education for her own kids an easy choice. She is grateful for the way home schooling allows her to pursue deep and meaningful relationship with her children, and to tailor their education to fit their exact needs. Greta finds home schooling to be a deeply creative act, and she loves sharing her passion for good books and outdoor learning with her children.
In addition to home schooling, Greta fills her time with writing, speaking, and podcasting. She loves encouraging her fellow mothers to be the best version of themselves as they dive deep into motherhood. Greta is passionate about helping parents connect with their kids through books and adventures. Greta is also a strong voice in the fight to protect kids from pornography and helping parents create healthy sexual cultures in their homes.
Headline speaker: Zara FagEn, Phd
Often bristling at the formality of her title, Dr. Fagen prefers to be called Zara… or Mom. Zara received her PhD in Neurobiology at the University of Chicago before devoting her life to being a wife, mother, homeschooler, business owner… and now blogger, author, and speaker. She is the best-selling author of Minimalist homeschooling: A values-based approach to maximize learning and minimize stress, in which homeschoolers rethink how they invest their time and energy.
Zara firmly believes that you don’t have to choose between educational success and sanity while homeschooling – you can have both by decluttering your child’s education. After realizing firsthand the stress and overwhelm that plague homeschoolers, she teaches a method to simultaneously simplify homeschooling, while adding clarity, confidence and value. In short, Zara has made it her mission to teach homeschoolers how to be awesome at homeschooling, instead of trying to be it all.
Zara keeps things as simple as possible in Indiana with her husband and 4 children. She is a recovering perfectionist, proud science geek, and aspiring snowbird. You can connect with her on facebook @groups/minimalisthomeschoolingzara; at her blog ZaraPhD.com; or via email at hello@ZaraPhD.com.
Conference Details
The 2019 conference is being generously hosted by Westside Community Church on the West side of El Paso (201 E Sunset Rd, El Paso, TX 79922). The 2 day conference will include 30 workshops, host local and national vendors in the Exhibit Hall and provide child care for kids age one to eight.
Online Registration is Closed. You may still register at the door Friday May, 3 beginning at 11:30 am or Saturday, May 4 beginning at 8 am.
Childcare (SOLDOUT) is $20 for the first child and $3 for every child after that. Child care is limited to the first 40 children and will not be available after the early bird registration period ends.
This years venue is wonderful, but is NOT stroller friendly. If you plan on bringing a nursing infant or don’t plan on utilizing child care, please know that STROLLERS ARE NOT IDEAL due to room sizes and the two story building navigation. We highly encourage utilizing child care or baby wearing. But if a stroller is your only option please don’t let that deter you, there are possibilities to make it work if necessary.
