FAQs

What ages can participate? All students in K–12th grades. Divisions are grades K–2, 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12.

Who moves on to the Sun Country Science Fair? Only the first and second place winners of EACH category in grades 6–8, and 9–12.

What will the day look like? Check in begins at 9 am and all boards need to be set up by 9:30 am. Judging will begin at 10 am. We will go by division (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12). Students will stand with their board and projects as the judges make their rounds and answer questions the judges have. All students are required to be there the entire time. Snacks will be provided. You can bring your own meal and eat at the church. We aim to start presentation of awards at 1:30 pm (Time subject to change based on judging).

Do I have to stay the whole time? Yes, due to the nature of judging, we will not have exact times. Please bring books, games, and other things to occupy you while you wait your turn or for the awards presentation. Parents must be present at all times with their child(ren).

What about lunch? You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch to eat.

How many awards will be given out? All divisions (k-2,3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) will have a FIRST, SECOND and THIRD place winners across ALL categories. 6-8 and 9-12 will have a FIRST and SECOND in EACH category per division (to determine regional fair participation). There will also be an overall FIRST, SECOND, and THIRD place winner.

How do I know what category to choose? You can type in your project in google and ask which category it belongs to. That is the simplist way to find out. For MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLERS you will have access to STEM WIZARD (the city wide science fair tracker). Once you register you will be given access to STEM WIZARD. You will need to make an account for each student registered. This will walk you through the set up of a science fair and all the forms you may or may not need per category. It is pretty self explanatory and will make the transition to the Sun Country Regional Fair a seamless transition for the older students.

Can I get a refund if we are sick the day of the fair? No refunds will be given.

Do you have scholarships for the Sun Country Regional Fair if my child make it through? Yes we do, but at this time are only able to offer that to those who are members of the association.
